Required for applying for Concealed Carry Pistol Permit.
18 hour in-person class includes:
- 16 hours class time plus 2 hours live fire training
- 9+ hours of New York State and Federal law review
- Safe storage, use, and handling of firearms
- Fundamentals of marksmanship
- Applying for a Concealed Carry Permit
- Conflict management
- Conflict de-escalation
- Locations and places prohibited for concealed carry
- Use of deadly and non-deadly force
- Best practices upon encountering deadly force
- Principles of marksmanship
Live-fire instruction which includes: Range safety, safe drawing, target acquisition, re-holstering, dry firing, safe loading and unloading, ammunition, firearm condition check, and safely discharging a firearm.
The 18-hour Course not only includes subjects mandated by NY State but also includes various real-life situations involving a handgun such as young children in the house and how to respond and interact with police officers.
Actually, this Course is excellent for current permit holders who should get updated on the current Laws and current financial and legal Liabilities of owning a firearm.
Required: Ear protection (Muff Type ONLY – soft style not allowed), eye protection, something to eat and drink, dress for the weather, belt to hold holster, be 15 minutes early before each session, if possible, for Course review and to answer questions.

NOTE:
To receive a certificate of completion of this course, students must attend all portions of the 16 hour in-person classroom instruction and achieve at least 80% on the written exam. In addition, students must successfully complete and demonstrate competence in the two-hour live-fire training.
The certificate of completion qualifies students to apply for a New York State Concealed Carry Pistol Permit.
